American Family Portrait

American Family Portrait

The Simpsons are America’s most loved dysfunctional family. The piece uses ceramics, fashion, and photography to prompt viewers to reflect on contemporary American culture. The frame resembles the one that hangs in my mom's house filled with pictures of my siblings and I taken in the early 2000s.
The g-string and provocative photos should evoke thoughts about societal issues in America such as sexualization, nudity, censorship, and exposure to pornographic media.
